I totally understand what cultural appropriation is, but the thing that makes me unconfortable is that I am white but I was born in a black family, my mom is liberian, my grand-mother and all my family from my mother's side is too, they are all black except for my mom who is "brown"…Â
You never tasted a really good baguette that's maybe why :) but I have to say that as a french raised by a liberian mother, I grew up eating cornbread and I love it. But I still prefer baguette.
Because we have an adage that says: "Mange comme un roi le matin, comme un prince le midi et comme un pauvre le soir", which means eat like a king in the morning, like a prince midday and like a poor in the evening.
Also because we enjoy our meal, we don't just eat it :)
The secrets:…Â
As a french, I can tell you they are all totally french. It's just that some people in France can speak english very-well (I study english literature and all my classes are in english, we have to speak english and a lot of people in my class can speak english without an accent...…Â
hahaha that is so true we can totally be pretentious sometimes. But wine, cheese, bread and Champagne are our prides so we are really protective over them and even if in the US you can have good wine, it's hard for us to acknowledge it.
I'm absolutely horrified to see some comments. If you don't know something just don't say anything. As a french, I can tell that our gastronomy is very diversified (like the american gastronomy unlike what some people can think).
Yes some dishes are from Belgium or the Netherlands,…Â
Nord is a departement and Hauts-de-France is the new name given to the region that includes Nord, Pas-de-Calais ans Picardie :)
and north of france shares almost the same gastronomy that Belgium or the Netherlands
