1. The joy you feel when you get your acceptance letter
2. Feeling super excited on your first day of class
3. Until you read the syllabus
4. You buy your nursing textbooks, and actually attempt to take them to lecture and clinical in case you need them
And you feel like:
5. Your first day of clinical
6. You get the grade from your first test
7. You begin to live on coffee
8. You pull an all nighter because of the care plan that never ends
9. You say goodbye to your social life
10. You start diagnosing yourself with everything you read about
11. You begin to realize the importance of study breaks
12. People begin calling you asking for medical advice, sometimes sharing way TMI
13. You start mixing medical terminology into regular conversation, and everyone you know is like:
14. You come home from a 12 hour clinical day and immediately do this:
15. Your first code brown
16. You realize when charting you forgot to do part of your physical assessment
17. An altered level of consciousness patient shamelessly hits on you
18. You finally notice an assessment change, or a med error
19. You get assigned a patient with C.Diff.
20. You do this when your alarm clock goes off on clinical days:
21. You start to gain nursing school weight
22. You get an IV pump that won't stop beeping, but you can't figure out why
23. You start applying nursing diagnosis to your everyday life
24. You get annoyed when friends with other majors complain to you about their coursework
25. You have to put on your "nursing face" when inside you are doing this:
26. You'll get everything set up for a sterile procedure, put on gloves, and realize you forgot something
27. You plan to pull an all-nighter before a test, but end up falling asleep.
28. Every test question has two right answers
29. You will get at least one patient who doesn't want to cooperate with anything
30. This:
31. You will have awesome clinical days
32. You will have a horrible clinical day
33. You start constantly counting down the months, weeks, and days until you graduate
34. You begin to feel like you might not make it
35. You finally graduate
36. And then you get to study for the NCLEX!
But trust me, in the end it's worth it!
