I’m sorry but the courageous acts of a few individuals do not make up for Texas’s history of discrimination coded into law. I’m not saying these people weren’t amazing for standing up and saying something, but that only goes so far when you’re unwilling to take that attitude to the ballot.

Tolerance and acceptance for who we are is the greatest gift we can give to one another.

As a Married Lesbian~ I found this really touching. I hope with all my heart that most people would stand up for us were this to happen. We are careful though- of where we hold hands even… and that’s sad. Verbal Queer Bashing is much more wide spread than the media ever reports, and Physical Queer Bashing is as well. When you see wrong- stand up and say something. Bullies win because the majority stay silent.

Well Donovan made an excellent point even though I dont *support* gays I in no way hate or judge them and who am I to judge, I think thats up to a higher power whether it be God or whatever I would never judge them for it I just let them live their life and I live mine.

I feel like the reason why so many people stood up for them is because gays are not particularly accepted in the Southern states, but with the shift of gay rights and all of the media about gay marriage the peple of the Sotuh are finally turning things around slowly and showing acceptance to those who believe they will never be accepted. In a South where we are all conservatives, it is up to the rest of us that believe in gay marriage and gay rights to stand up for them whenever possible.

tbh, i would have never thought that guy would have written such a touching letter just by looking at him. even more reason to never judge just from appearance.

Yea I’de agree that New Yorkers are more “stand-offish” to others? I don’t know if that’s the word I’m looking for, but if they stood up to people everytime they see something messed up like that, they’de never get anywhere in their daily lives.. I just think that Texans may be more friendly towards others, I don’t know though.. that’s just maybe what I could see happening behind that all
