This Church Sign Is Awesome
It’s real, so don’t even start with me.
From the United Methodist Portal:
Reverend Tom Tate said he’s always looking for a good message for the church sign, unless it is needed to advertise a church event.
But this week’s message has exponentially exceeded any other in response.
“It has touched a reservoir for people in a way that is very surprising for me,” Mr. Tate said.

wendyt6 11 months agoFor years I believed all that I was taught; I read and learned the Bible very well and I just assumed that all people felt the same. As I grew older and found my convictions tested by things and people that I could not explain, I didn’t lose my faith but I realized that we are just human and easily mislead. The only one that can lead us in the right direction is God Himself. Go to Him and ask. —- “Be still and know that I am God.” —- My feeling is that no one can realize Him and that no one does NOT believe in Him either. People just don’t believe in others’ ideas of Him but they DO know that He exists. Everyone knows that there is good and that there is bad in the world. Just know that EVERYTHING that is good, pure, loving, positive, happy and beautiful is God. Anything that Man has attributed to Him that is in anyway limiting or unloving is false; it is their own nature seeping into the message. I Know Him. I Have Heard Him. I Have Felt Him. I Love Him. Unconditionally - because there is nothing about God that I don’t love and everything that I have ever loved IS God. Aren’t there things in this world that you love? That is God. And you love Him. Are there things that you hate that have happened and you don’t understand why He would have done those things? Well, He didn’t do them. He is only good, beautiful things. He doesn’t put conditions, buts and catch-22s in His love. God is real and you are enjoying and loving and feeling Him everyday. You may not have recognized Him because you were looking for the description that someone else had given you of Him but you’ve known and loved Him all along. And that is all He has ever wanted from us. And we shall strive to be and give our best and in the end, we - as well as all things - WILL join together back with Him and be also perfect; because we are His…we are Him and He is in us…He is us.

Riff a year agoYeah, he prefers them so much that the hateful Christians will still get into Heaven but the kind atheists will still go to Hell? I appreciate the sentiment, but this kind of bending-over-backward hermeneutics to make Christianity seem more welcoming seems to contradict the entire salvation gospel which is what Protestant Christianity kind of hinges on.

The Angry Luddite a year ago
The results of this poll, and the phrasing of the article this links to, were a lot different than I would have expected from the writers and audience of a website launched by Glenn Beck (The Blaze). It’s a little heartening, really.
