People Protest New York City Soda Ban With 7-Eleven Big Gulps
Earlier this evening a group of people in lower Manhattan took part in the ‘Million Big Gulp March’. If you didn’t already know, the Mayor of New York City has attempted to ban all sugary drinks over 16 ounces. God Bless America.
It should be noted that “Big Gulps” would NOT be banned under the new proposed law.

MrFugate 11 months agoIt seems that many of you are missing the point. This is a government intrusion into something that it really has no right to regulate. This is an issue of principle. Now that they said I cannot have the large drink, I want one. Seriously, how stupid are the readers here to think that this is about sugar drinks. F’ing morons. This is about government regulating something that is outside of their power or at least the power originally granted.

benjaminc5 11 months agoThis is a valid protest against the nanny state. It’s kind of against the fabric of our nation that the local government would be this far up the people’s asses. I can’t imagine Thomas Jefferson envisioned a day when an oligarch would rule NYC and legislate beverage sizes. If I was running against Bloomberg, I would seriously run on a “That guy’s shit is out the window the second I take office.” If he wants to create San Angeles from Demolition Man, he’s going to have to spend his fortune and create it on his own dime.

I see both sides of this too well. Government needs to back up & worry about more important issues & let people kill themselves over bad food choices. However, people are drinking gallons of poison (have you ever paid attention to what is in soda & what it does to your body? I can’t believe it’s sold at all!)

I really don’t get why people get so worked up about other people wanting to eat fast food and drink pop. It’s not like they’re killing you. My only gripe is that the government tries to control something so stupid. Let people make their own stupid decisions. Banning it is just gonna make them want it more.
