Anyone saying that it’s rude/bothers them to have to, God help them, move one WHOLE step over to let walking people pass them have never been in a busy, multi-story building where it takes 10 minutes or longer to wait for the elevator. Agreed with RyzzleyBear-It’s not a ride, it’s there to get you to your destination faster!
Um, not when the stairs are located on the opposite side of the building. It is incredibly stupid and rude not to yield to people passing on the left. Sharing is something they cover in kindergarten.
lol, you must be from some podunk little town where the only escalators are at the mall. In a REAL city like D.C., NYC, etc. stand right/walk left is actually the rule. There are PSAs in the metro telling people to do this.
It’s a damn escalator. Don’t walk. Stand. Wait. Exit. How f’ing hard is that?
How effing hard is it to step aside if someone wants to pass? One. Single. Step.
It is not a carnival ride. Don’t assume that because you have nothing better to do with your life than stand around that the rest of us want to wait around with you.
The stair alternatives to my building’s escalators (I take 3 each way) are on the opposite side of our complex. One involves exiting outside, walking an extra half block and crossing in traffic instead of taking a tunnel that goes straight through. What is so difficult about yielding to people who want to pass? Are you afraid you might burn a calorie executing this gesture?
I am absolutely terrified of esculators! Always have been. The sad part is that I can’t even explain why they freak me out so much! I just can’t get on one.
DON’T EVER PASS ME ON AN ESCALATOR. Chill the fuck out or take the stairs man.
People really don’t understand escalators. They also don’t understand they can be dangerous. Will never forget my time in retail when a woman pretty much got the bottom half of her big toe ripped off by doing something iffy with flip flops on while getting on the escalator…. Seriously, scared the lord out of me and all the other shoppers nearby.
