I was listening to an interview with the marine and he was saying this was their first kiss… The sound I made was a mixture between “awww” and “forever alone.”

Yeah and it's heartwarming and all. But the PDA rule is in place for a good reason. Never has the phrase 'get a room' been more fitting. Just because this is a rare sight which now can be done in the open doesn't make it OK. Are heterosexual service members the only ones who can be reprimanded for breaking a regulation? There were many times I wanted to really lay one on my wife after a long deployment. All she got was a peck on the cheek and a quick hug because I was in my Coast Guard uniform. Even that was not technically allowed. I can just imagine how my Chief would have reacted if I pulled this stunt. Article 15 in a heartbeat. We waited until we were in private to show each other what we felt. We didn't need to broadcast it all over the world. This cheapens their affection.

CONGRATULATIONS, you've made it home and into the loving arms of someone who loves you! We should all be so lucky.

I can respect the fact that he is a Marine but it still makes me feel sick looking at the picture.

To have the nerve to deny the rights of people who risk their lives to protect the life that many take for granted is just unbelievably absurd! This incredible picture sums up that people, no matter their sexual orientation, have people at home who are waiting for their return. I wish them a well life and that everything that the Marine and his partner deserves comes in due time, which should've been years ago, but unfortunately is still up in the air in most parts of this country.
