It is amazing to me that penalties for mistreating animals are so weak. Animals may not be able to shoulder civil responsibilities, and therefore cannot properly be said to have legal rights, but damned if it isn't a human responsibility to ensure that domesticated animals are healthy and well cared for. Anyone mentally unsound enough that they cannot be held accountable for inhumane horrors like this should be committed to in-patient care at a facility that can provide the counseling, care, and services that they need. Anyone who is NOT mentally unsound should no better, and should suffer real consequences for such evil actions. Imprisonment for five years minimum before parole can even be considered sounds like a good starting point to me.

It is sad that only one was saved, but come on - 90 cats? They were never going to find homes for them all…it was going to be difficult enough to find Rescue homes for that many cats never mind adoptive. Animal welfare is already operating on a tight budget.

Clearly the cat person holding them is crazy, but those cat's are not “unnaturally aggressive”, they try to escape an army of giant, masked individuals who try to put them into small cardboard boxes.

Even a docile cat would act “wild and aggressive” if it was handled so carelessly. These people actually work for the Humane Society? Damn.

Suitable for adoption on what grounds? And what of the other cats? Maybe not suitable to be released for the general public, but still, I'd say a good handful were suitable for care by proper handlers. I've handled some pretty wild, hateful, aggro cats before… some of them could've been helped.
