Partial Victory for Georgians - Albeit Unexpected

The People of Georgia got a partial, but unexepcted, victory when the clock struck midnight at this time last week after anti-child extremists in both chambers of the Gold Dome butted heads over two gun laws that put children at risk. However, the youth also suffered two major defeats.

One law that we opposed that did become law was one that lowers the Grade Point Average requirement for the HOPE scholarship. We believe that lowering the GPA requirement for HOPE sends a bad message to pupils that they only need to do the bare minimum in class in order to get the state's main scholarship. There is a reason why graduates in most states (including South Carolina) don't get a scholarship when they have a 2.994 GPA or lower: colleges want to see if you are serious about your education or not.
