He is Sweet
I am not talking toothache sweet...
I recently lost my job in January and was planning on visiting That Guy at the end of the month. I had the opportunity to apply for a few jobs just to get my name out there, low and behold I was offered a job! So now what? I still have a lease on my current place in Dayton and no where to live in Chicago. Insert sweet card: That Guy offers to let me stay at his place. Cleans out an entire dresser and half of his closet for me, little old me. See, sweet.
He isn't a hand holder...but he let's me arm hug
That Guy and I are not overly affectionate PDA (Public Display of Affection) people. Something we talked about in the beginning of the relationship. He's not a hand holder - which is fine. I don't need to sit at a table with him while our hands touch, but when we are walking down the street together he does this little thing with his arm. He flaps it like a bird's wing; it is sort of a cue for me to recognize "Hey you can arm hug me"
He likes my cooking
Don't get me wrong, I am not a horrible cook to begin with, but when a guy you like compliments your cooking it just makes you feel good, right? It does me. Most the stuff I have cooked for him was a first-timer. He tends to like healthier food. So we are always sharing food recipes we like. Butternut squash lasagna roll-ups to the rescue!
He rubs my feet/legs
So we could just be laying on the couch watching a horrible horror movie on Netflix, Girls on HBOGo or sports (i.e: Football, Hockey etc) and I will stretch my legs out on top of his and without even asking he will just rub me. Makes my heart warm.
He is a gentleman always
Whether we are just walking down the street or getting into a cab or onto the subway he always lets me lead first. If there is a slippery area or a big puddle he will reach for my hand so I don't loose my balance. He opens the car door, or matter of fact any door for me.
He makes me laugh
I think an important aspect in a relationship is humor. If you can't joke around with one another what is the point? That Guy is always making me smile or laugh. Laughter is the best medicine, and when he smiles I can see those beautiful pearly whites (has an amazingly beautiful smile - quite sickening) it makes me a twinge happier inside. "Did you just wink at me"
The on-the-verge of drunk phone calls and/or Facetime chats
Since That Guy and I are/were in a long distance relationship Facetime is semi important. I like looking at his face! The other nice thing is that he calls me after he has gone out with our friends. To me this means a lot, like you have other people you could drunk dial and you choo-choo chose me (insert gag noise) needless to say, the drunk dials are something I look forward to on the weekends.
That Guy is very open and honest
He isn't an encyclopedia that I need to dig around to find something if I ask he will tell, easy and simple. He also expects for me to do the same. I think we all know that communication is key in any relationship. When That Guy feeds me information about his past I truly appreciate it. I am like a sponge - let me soak it all up.
He is a movie buff
So are both pretty big movie people. He likes going to the movie theater and I so love that. Our movie tastes are pretty much spot on. Typically we try to catch a matinee or wait for the movie go down to a cheaper price, but when a movie that we both are "We have to see that" we go. For example: RoboCop came out February 12th. I will not be back in Chicago until the 15th - he knows he better wait, or I will kick him.
So these are some of the reasons I like That Guy. It's simple too the point and since I don't have the availability to give him a V-Day card today this will do. Happy Valentine's Day Guy!
