I think that anyone who lives like this must be mentally ill. It’s horrendous for landlords to have to deal with the sort of damage caused by a tenant like this and they deserve our empathy first. At the same time, my heart goes out to someone who clearly is so unwell as to have no clue about how to take proper care of herself. One has to wonder what kind of home she grew up in, and whether any adults in her life ever modelled stable, orderly living. It’s also tragic that this woman was alone and isolated to the extent that noone knew of her terrible (albeit self-imposed) living conditions. How sad that she has noone to look out for her.
