Serena Williams Proves Winning Wimbledon Never Gets Old

After winning her fourth Wimbledon title in 2010, the younger Williams sister dealt with serious medical conditions. It wasn’t clear she’d ever get back up the mountain. After taking home her fifth Wimbledon title today, Serena showed just how much it means to her. This is what joy looks like.

      Fun facts about Serena Williams’ serve at Wimbledon: She served a record 102 aces, the most ever by any woman at Wimbledon. Second place in terms of aces served at this year’s tournament is Sabine Lisicki, with 34 aces (which should give you an idea of how hard it is to serve as well as Serena did). Serena’s 102 aces is more than any player on the men’s side at Wimbledon (unless Murray serves 28 aces or Federer serves 43 aces in the men’s final, neither of which is likely to happen), even though the men play far more games.

      What can you say about the Williams sisters? They are such well-rounded and grounded young women. Their parents are still a part of their lives. This is a family that loves each other. Both parents have done a wonderful job with their daughters, whose footsteps are huge in the tennis world. I think Serena has a few more good years left to show her stuff on the tennis court. She is not ready to retire by a long shot. Venus would be still be playing had it been for her illness. Together, they are the dynamic duo.
