What surprises me most about Objectivism is how little its opponents really know about it. Alex, Objectivism does not reject morality. It simply has its own definition of morality. In terms of charity Rand actually says that giving to charity is not only okay, but should be encouraged. The only time that altruistic actions become immoral is when the actions work to harm the individual carrying them out. The simplest example I can think of is giving $1,000 to a charity when giving that money will have you broke and starving. This is the evil of altruism that Rand speaks of, not just charity in general.
