Davine S. 5 months agoI hope #7 is photoshopped because it looks neat now, but that’s gonna be a block of black fuzz within a year. Tattoos settle as they heal and the edges lose definition; those letters are way too small to hold. If you’re considering a tattoo of any kind: read Critink’s tumblr. Read ALL OF IT. I found it recently and spent the next couple of weeks reading every single entry on all 90+ pages (just for entertainment because I’m not planning a tattoo). There’s some incredibly informative stuff in it. Get over there and educate yourselves, and then get a great, unique tattoo.

Paramore’s “My Heart” Originally, in Jan ‘08, I had this done because I felt I had a “haunted heart”. Emotionally, growing up wasn’t easy and the pain continued through the years. Through and through my heart was still beating. Unfortunately in the summer of 2011 I’d lost my dad. As circumstance would have it, he passed of a Heart Attack. He was a singer, his four daughters are singers, and at the funeral my sister Jessie and I sang a song… The song was “My Heart”. It was the first time ANYONE on my fathers (rather large) side of the family had heard either one of us sing. It was the first time we had ever sang together in our lives. The tattoo has taken on new meaning :)

This is the best of any of these. The body has no straight lines, so it’s jarring to put a straight line of text on it. You have to treat it like a curved canvas, wrapping images around limbs and filling the space in a thoughtful way so that the eye follows the flow of the design easily. Yours works because the whole thing is considered properly - kudos for not just taking the obvious route! :) I’m sorry about your dad. That must be so raw, still. When you start to feel stronger, maybe you should get a whole new tattoo that represents the next phase of your life. He’ll always be with you, but you can start to forge ahead on your own path, too.

karengeier 6 months ago#9 looks like it was done in someone’s basement. The skin is mashed and it won’t age well. This thread shows how shit a straight text tattoo looks, though. The tats with some graphics to them look WAY BETTER. I hope the person who owns 9 enjoys explaining who procul harum are for the rest of their life.
