Is This The Sassiest Little Monkey Ever?

This is probably all of us on a Monday morning.

This Japanese macaque monkey was not ready for his close-up. He was taking a bath at the Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park in Japan when wildlife photographer Jari Peltomäki decided to snap him. As the 51-year-old took the picture, the monkey looked straight into the camera's lens and flipped the bird.

Peltomäki told the SWNS news agency: "When I saw what he was doing, I quickly took a burst of images to capture the moment.

"At first I thought he was just playing around, but then he looked straight at me and showed me his middle finger. He looked so serious."

Peltomäki, from Finland, was visiting the Japanese park to take pictures when he decided to get some close-up shots of the monkeys splashing in the water.

"It was over in a split-second," Peltomäki said. "There were several other photographers at the same time – but I haven't seen anybody else having the similar image.

"I was so happy that I was lucky and fast enough because I haven't seen an image like it."

We know how you feel, little monkey – not every day is a selfie day.
