leighannq a year agoI’m sorry, what does SNL have to do with Whitney? Yes, they have musical guests, but it’s a comedy sketch show. The only people I would EXPECT to see them tribute would be former cast members or friends of the show. The fact that they thought to do something to show their love for her -at the last minute- is very touching. Buzzfeed, you are a bunch of grumps.

GP13 a year agoAnd to the author. I’m a longtime Buzzfeed reader but I’ve never posted. I found out Houston died during SNL (which used to be so lame but this cast rocks, tonight kind of a dud - booo quirky manic pixie idiot girl). The nod to the EXTREMELY recent news was fine.
You are like those people that yell at Jon Stewart about journalistic integrity. At least you changed the post … tho I see someone screen capped it. -

Claire H. - When I was a little little girl, I thought Whitney was the coolest, most beautiful and talented woman in the world (besides mom). She inspired me to sing. Not to want to go on American Idol and act like a narcissistic fool: I’m talking about the cathartic joy of singing in the shower, or the car, or where ever the need strikes you.
I get that later Whitney was a reality show that I never watched. I get that kids are stupid/don’t understand. What I don’t get is your inability to google.
So we mourn her, for the things she might have done. Mostly we are sad because the recordings she did make touched us in profound ways. I was a punk rock girl, and am a lifelong agnostic - but to me if anything hinted towards something divine it’s a voice like hers.
So what if it was 20 yeas ago, the recordings are still there. If you come back to troll Aretha’s thread I’m having you deported. I’m smarter than you and will find a way. -

One of the biggest issues I have with Buzzfeed is negativity for the sake of being negative. Instead of changing the title fifteen minutes after posting because people are unhappy, why don’t you think before you post it?

I guess she’s done so much in her life, they didn’t know where to even begin to make a tribute for her. The least they could’ve done was leave the image up on the screen for longer; is that all Whitney is worth to them, a two second pause of silence?!

Kyle B. a year agoYeah, how dare they not throw together an elaborated tribute a few hours after the announcement on a show that they have been working on for a week and have to work really hard at getting the timing down for. For shame, SNL. You have ruined the sanctity of everything by even trying to pay tribute, while Matt Cherette took the time and effort to make a post about how awful you are for even trying. You sicken everyone, Lorne Michaels, cast, and crew of “Saturday Night Live”.
