The One Videogame Trailer You Should Watch This Week
Watch Dogs might be the most incredible-looking videogame you’ll see this year.

Watch Dogs from Ubisoft is perhaps the first game to look next-gen in a little long while. It’s kind of a subtle thing if you’re not used to staring at videogames, but watch the lights and the shadows. They feel genuine. This is what’s next — worlds that feel increasingly real in the details, with super complex physics and optics.
The demo’s most likely running on a super-powered PC, though Ubisoft has since announced it’s coming to the Xbox 360 and PS3 — still, I wonder just how much of the graphical intensity is going to trickle down to the six-year-old-plus consoles.
Oh, in case you’re wondering what the game is about? Hackers and networks and digital warfare. Of course.

The Angry Luddite 11 months agoWow. Yep. Ubisoft just raised the bar right there. This is one of those, “I can’t believe that wasn’t CG,” moments that you always wait for each E3, and has become harder to come by each year (as game visuals are just getting so damn impressive, it’s hard to top them - but that was just done here, I guess). But it’s not just the visuals alone - the interface and what you can do with it, the seamless transitions between action sequences, the lifelike movements, the robust atmosphere… I mean honestly, that’s a serious technical feat right there. Should be interesting to see how much of that experience makes it to release intact. I’m guessing that’s not an actual verbatim mission from the game, but a special E3 tech demo type setup, like showcases such as this often are (think Killzone 2, Bioshock Inifinity, etc).
