Hoping For The Next AIM

    There is not a good universal chat protocol: AIM's prime has long past; not quite everybody uses Google Talk; and the best contender for a new "everybody has it" IM service, Facebook, seemingly cares very little about being the way people talk online. But every time Facebook puts out a new version of its Messenger app — now coming to the iPad, with Skype video chat, I sorta kinda hope it'll take the mantle, so everybody can point to at least one good thing that came out of Facebook's ubiquity.
