Little DC Things

If you have ever lived in DC, you have probably noticed, or even been bothered by, these occurrences.

Guys walk around in shorts and a dress shirt for every occasion.

And like 99 percent of the time the shirt and shorts don't even match.

Everyone is always dressed like they're going somewhere important. Even if they're just going to the supermarket.

I honestly just want to walk around in sweats, but I would feel like a tool. Everywhere else in the world it is the other way around.

The escalators to get to the Metro make up about half of your travel time to get anywhere.

I could honestly knit a sweater in the time it takes to go down those escalators

When people decide to stand on the left side of the escalator...

I'm glad you're enjoying your day off, but I have a Senate hearing in 10 minutes.

You know you have these guys in front of you when you can smell the sun screen...

No one else around you needs it. You all work in a offices. That's why John Boehner wears so much tan-in-a-can. Fact.

It isn't even the sun screen that causes this mentality, though...

It's them strolling and in your way while trying to get to work, stopping to ask you for directions when you are in a rush and taking forever to use the machines for the Metro.

Although the whole Metro thing is not really their fault...

The ticketing method is so incredibly inefficient. Unless you have a Smartrip card. In which case you are probably not a tourist.

There is always a car ahead of you "experiencing issues" on the Metro.

Not to mention on the weekends it only runs about every 20 minutes.

Also apparently Georgetown does not matter enough to get Metro service?

A CVS pharmacy that is closed over the weekends exists.

And its weekday hours are 8 to 6. Good thing everyone works Monday through Friday at least 9 to 5 here. These pharmacists are pointing at their hours and laughing at you.

A Starbucks without frappuccinos also exists.

Unacceptable.

People belting songs out of tune outside of the Metro at 8 am...

I will actually pay you to STOP singing.

No. I am holding like 4 bags of groceries that I can barely carry.

When friends visit, they want to hit ALL the tourist sites.

Not like you've passed the Capitol about a million times or anything because it's how you get to work...

You've been de-sensitized...

...But going to those sites really never gets old because it reminds you how awesome the city you live in is.
