This Badass Matildas Star Will Be The First Woman On The Cover Of "FIFA"

    She's the first woman announced for the cover of the wildly popular video game.

    Fresh off taking Australia into the knockout stages of the World Cup, Steph Catley has been voted to appear on the cover of FIFA 16 - a watershed moment for the ridiculously popular video game franchise.

    Congratulations to @TheMatildas star @stephcatley – winner of the Australian #FIFA16 #CoverVoteAU!

    Catley will stand alongside men's star, Lionel Messi on the Australian cover of the game. Several other women are expected to be announced for country-specific versions.

    And her Australian club team were super delighted with the news!

    @EASPORTSFIFAANZ @TheMatildas @stephcatley GET IN!

    FIFA 16 will allow you to play with women's national teams for the first time. When it was announced earlier this year some gamers (pioneers for the treatment of women) acted like big man babies.

    But the game also comes off the back of the success of the women's World Cup and a big debate about the payment of its players.

    It's been reported that the women's payout from the World Cup was $15 million - 40 times less than the $576 million given to the men at last year's tournament.

    With everything that's happening in the world of women's football and the gaming industry, the only thing left to say is... GET IN!
