For a song taken from Montell Jordan’s 1995 single This Is How We Do It, Katy Perry’s This is How We Do and the corresponding video are not only unimaginative and overdone, but offensive and racist. And I did not call Katy Perry ‘vaguely’ or ‘accidentally’ racist like many online sources have been doing. I am calling Katy Perry offensive and racist. And I have twelve screenshots from her latest video to prove it.

Now it’s not to say that the activities that Katy Perry claims to partake in, such as chillin’ laid back straight stuntin’, getting her nails did (not done but did), while sippin’ on rosé in big hoops singing along to Mariah Carey, could be done by anyone of any race, but they seem to all be pretty unifiedly of African American vernacular and descent. Now for a song that features and highlights so much of this culture which I’m sure M. Perry would say she reveres, and admires, why are there so few black people in this video?
