The Best And Worst Prep Schools

Even though school may suck most of the time books set in schools are usually pretty cool. Whether the school is terrifying or awesome, it's all just so much better than our own we can't help but love them. Here's a list of some of our favorite books with school settings.

1. Forge School of the Arts

2. Spence Academy

Spence is an all girls' academy in Victorian England. While that might sound all fine and dandy this school has its secrets. The Realms a magical dreamland lures in Gemma and her friends. While all may seem perfect and beautiful, evil is lurking and threatens to overtake the girls of Spence. Watch out!

3. Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry

More than a million people are still waiting on their acceptance letter from this school. Seems like a bunch of owls have gotten lost. Hogwarts may have its faults, like basilisks, dementors, and evil wizards lurking about, but overall it is arguably the best boarding school ever.

4. Ault School

In Prep by Curtis Sittenfeld, Ault School in Massachusetts is the very prestigious boarding school of Lee Fiora. Over the course of her four years in high school she finds love, friendship, and much more. Would you travel halfway across the country to attend Ault?

5. Miss Minchin's Boarding School for Girls

Miss Minchin's boarding school for girls in London is not the happiest place in the world. Abandoned orphan? Tough luck, looks like you're moving to the attic! While Miss Minchin's was a horrible place to live Sara Crewe was able to make true friends and turn this drab attic into a palace even if only in her imagination...or was it? A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett taught girls that everyone can be a princess even at boarding school.

6. Blackbriar Academy

The kids at Blackbriar Academy are so horrible they drive Edie Kramer to commit suicide. Fortunately she is saved by Kian, who steps in as a guardian angel...well not much of an angel. Now Edie is out for revenge and everyone at Blackbriar should get ready to pay.

7. St. Vladimir’s Academy

If you are at St. Vladimir's Academy, you're a vampire or a human half-breed, which is pretty cool. Unfortunately you've got other vampires(the evil ones) trying to make you one of them, not to mention all the normal drama of being in high school. Life is stressful.

8. The Gallagher Academy for Exceptional Young Women

Breaking CIA codes, learning how to kill people, discussing chemical warfare, practicing martial arts... all a normal day at Gallagher Academy. Sounds pretty cool if you are into hiding your identity from boys you might love. Being a spy is hard.

9. House of Night

Another school that teaches you how to be a vampire except this time it makes you into a social pariah and you leave all your friends behind. Good luck trying to fit in now, unless of course you have extra powers. But really is that a good thing, because it just makes you stand out even more.

10. Easton Academy

In the Private series by Kate Brian, Easton Academy has all the prestige and privilege you'd expect in a New England boarding school. Only problem is, you'll be pushed to your limits trying to fit in, and you'll never be sure if someone is trying to kill you or play a prank on you. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer at Easton.
