Proof "The 100" Gives Zero Fucks

Blood must have blood. Like, a lot of it. MAJOR SPOILERS for the entire series, including the Feb. 11 episode.

1. Jasper got a spear through the chest.

The pilot of The 100 ended with a bang — or, uh, a spear — when Jasper (Devon Bostick) was nearly killed by Grounders. (He totally died, actually, but that got retconned when the producers realized they liked having Bostick around. But the series quickly stepped away from fake-out deaths!)

2. Clarke mercy-killed Atom with a knife in the throat.

Atom (Rhys Ward) had been exposed to Acid Fog, so Clarke (Eliza Taylor) was doing him a solid here. Still: yikes. Lots of mercy killing on this show!

3. Charlotte murdered Wells.

Hey, remember when one of The 100's main characters got killed by a little girl in the third episode? Charlotte (Izabela Vidovic) clearly wasn't in her right mind when she stabbed Wells (Eli Goree) in the neck, but it was seriously upsetting regardless.

4. Murphy got hanged for killing Wells. (And survived.)

Yes, Murphy (Richard Harmon) made it through his ordeal and was eventually exiled (and then brutally tortured offscreen). But the hanging scene was still one of the more distressing examples of mob violence in The 100's first season. And he didn't even kill Wells!

5. Charlotte committed suicide.

How do you solve a problem like a pint-sized murderer? In this case, Charlotte leapt off a cliff to her doom and avoided an awkward trial scenario. Problem solved!

6. 320 Sky People died from oxygen deprivation in the Culling.

Hey, they volunteered! Also, it's comforting to know that life on the Ark is about as awful as life on Earth — it's just a different kind of terrible.

7. Grounders killed three Delinquents.

Don't worry, many more to come! RIP John Mbege (Aaron Miko), Diggs (Giacomo Baessato), and Roma (Celia Reid). We hardly knew ye.

8. Bellamy killed Dax in self-defense.

Yes, Bellamy (Bob Morley) stabbed Dax (Victor Zinck Jr.) in the neck — lots of neck stabbing on this show! — but Dax was about to crush his throat. Amid all the senseless murders on The 100, this one was downright honorable.

9. Commander Shumway was murdered, and it was staged to look like a suicide.

On orders from the treacherous Diana Sydney (Kate Vernon), Lt. Graco (Artine Brown) slit Commander Shumway's (Terry Chen) wrists with a shard of broken glass and staged his body to make it look Shumway had killed himself. Again, life on the Ark: not peachy!

10. An explosion took out six Sky People.

Including four Council members and Vera Kane (Christine Willes), mother of Council member Marcus Kane (Henry Ian Cusick). This was Diana's doing, naturally.

11. The drop ship from the Ark crashed, killing everyone on board.

On the plus side, Diana didn't make it. Unfortunately, Clarke thought her mother Abby (Paige Turco) was on the ship, so witnessing this explosion was actually pretty devastating. But Abby was fine! Yes, a whole lot of Sky People died in the crash, but we never even learned their names.

12. And in the shutdown on the Ark caused by the drop ship, about 1,500 Sky People died.

13. Murphy smothered Connor.

After claiming he was going to let bygones be bygones and forgive Connor (Joshua Ssettuba) for the whole trying-to-hang-him thing, Murphy smothered his former friend to death with a wet rag. And he said "bygones" while doing it.

14. Clarke tried to save a dying Grounder, who died anyway.

Turns out, there are consequences to blowing shit up! In this case, Tris (Alison Thornton) was mortally wounded. Anya (Dichen Lachman) forced Clarke to try to save Tris, threatening to kill Finn (Thomas McDonell) if Tris died. Tris didn't make it, but Clarke and Finn were able to escape relatively unscathed.

15. Clarke slit Caliban's throat.

Of course, in order to escape and save Finn, Clarke had to slice Caliban's (Steve Bacic) throat with a scalpel. She had no other choice!

16. Murphy suffocated Myles.

More revenge, more suffocation. This time, Murphy used a plastic bag to murder Myles (Brendan Meyer). Creative!

17. Reapers literally tore a Grounder apart.

This whole scene was a big bloody mess. Reapers slaughtered and ate a Grounder. Lincoln (Ricky Whittle), Finn, and Clarke fought back. Both Reapers and Grounders suffered some serious losses. But really, what you should be focusing on here is that Reapers slaughtered and ate a Grounder. Gross.

18. Murphy shot Raven.

Murphy is a real menace, huh? Raven (Lindsey Morgan) survived, but her injuries have continued to haunt her throughout the series.

19. Drew was killed by a Grounder scout.

Bonus points if you can remember anything about Drew (Levi Meaden). That having been said, his death was especially gruesome.

20. An Ark station exploded, killing everyone inside.

That's not including everyone who died from the Ark ships that crashed en route to Earth. Basically, a very small percentage of Sky People actually managed to make it down to land. At least Abby and Kane ended up safe and accounted for: Soon they'd be able to attempt survival in a new hostile environment!

21. 27 Delinquents were killed in the battle with the Grounders.

Rest in peace, nameless teens! (In case you weren't keeping track, it's been a long time since the titular "100" of the title was accurate.)

22. And more than 300 Grounders were killed in the same battle.

Mostly incinerated, to be exact, after Jasper blasted the ship's rockets to decimate the Grounders who had assembled outside. A brutal victory for the Delinquents, which, uh, yay? As The 100 repeatedly reminds us, war is fucking awful.

23. Tristan murdered a Delinquent who wasn't moving fast enough.

Despite Finn's protestations, Tristan (Joseph Gatt) couldn't abide dawdling, so he slit the Delinquent's throat. Rest assured he would soon face his comeuppance.

25. Raven was forced to undergo surgery without anesthesia.

Raven had Finn by her side to hold her hand and comfort her, but nothing could really prepare anyone for surgery while awake. And although we didn't see much of the actual operation, thankfully, Raven's screams as Abby cut into her were pretty unbearable to hear.

26. Three Sky People were crucified.

One was left alive, so points there! This horrific display left a clear message to the Sky People — not to mention people who watch The 100, namely: This show is intense as hell.

27. Clarke discovered that Grounder blood was being harvested.

Of course, it only got worse from here, so this seems relatively tame in retrospect. But it was shocking to see Grounders hung upside down, with their blood being circulated through Mountain Men at Mount Weather. It laid the groundwork for increasingly awful human experiments to come. Fun!

28. Abby was whipped in front of a crowd.

To punish Abby for letting the prisoners escape, Kane had her whipped in front of a crowd. She endured 10 shock lashes at the hands of Major Byrne (Kendall Cross), and while Kane was obviously conflicted about it, it was still awful to watch. (And surely worse to experience!)

29. Finn shot an unarmed Delano.

After a heated debate about what to do with Delano (Brendon Zub), the Grounder they were questioning, Finn unceremoniously shot him in the head. Finn's murder of an unarmed man foreshadowed some of his subsequent bad decisions, many of which were less than humane.

30. Anya tore out a tracking device from her arm with her teeth.

Look, this was unquestionably badass, but it was also super fucking gross. Kudos to Anya for doing it — now let's never speak of it again.

31. Anya was shot and killed by a Camp Jaha guard.

She and Clarke had finally formed an alliance and were prepared to take on Mount Weather together. Obviously, because this is The 100, that couldn't last.

32. Lincoln was forcibly injected with drugs.

The drug, which made him convulse in agony, was designed to turn him into a Reaper. As a fun side effect, he became dangerously addicted.

33. Finn massacred a group of 18 Grounders.

So, things got a little out of hand and Finn sort of accidentally gunned down a bunch of innocent Grounders. It was not one of his finest moments. Of all the terrible things that have happened on this show, seeing Finn kill so many people en masse was easily one of the most haunting.

34. Lincoln, as a Reaper, killed and ate Sgt. Scott.

The loss of Sgt. Scott (Warren Belle) wasn't exactly deeply felt. But being killed and eaten by Reapers is a shitty way to go — especially when one of the Reapers, much to Octavia's (Marie Avgeropoulos) horror, was Lincoln.

35. Kane sliced open his wrist after Jaha refused to kill him.

Pitted against each other in a fight to the death, neither Kane nor Jaha (Isaiah Washington) could do the deed. But Kane was more than willing to take matters into his own hands and slice open his arm. (He survived.)

36. Keenan was left outside to die from radiation poisoning.

Cage Wallace (Johnny Whitworth) showed some sympathy and wanted to let Keenan (Emily Haine) back inside, but Dr. Tsing (Rekha Sharma) insisted on leaving her to die as part of her experiment. Science!

37. Dr. Tsing drilled into Harper to steal her bone marrow.

It might sound strange to talk about stealing bone marrow, but that's exactly what happened to Harper (Chelsey Reist). As she begged to go home, Dr. Tsing drilled into her against her will — and, of course, without anesthesia — to withdraw bone marrow. Dr. Tsing: not a great doctor.

38. Clarke mercy-killed Finn.

"Spacewalker" (Season 2, Episode 8)

If Clarke hadn't stabbed Finn, he would have been killed by the Grounders — and in a much more horrific way. But this was a major turning point for Clarke, and a deeply upsetting moment. Those final seconds — Clarke's bloody hand, Finn's slumped-over corpse, Raven's scream — are hard to forget.

39. Gustus faced "Death by a Thousand Cuts."

After attempting to poison Lexa (Alycia Debnam-Carey), Gustus (Aleks Paunovic) was punished with the Grounders' "Death by a Thousand Cuts." At least Clarke got to see how awful this execution was: That's the fate Finn would have faced if she hadn't killed him first.

40. Pauna attacked and killed three people.

Pauna is a giant gorilla, because it's important to remember that there are lots of things on Earth that will kill you other than your fellow humans. Anyway, RIP Major Byrne, Quint (Graham Shiels), and Lexa's guard (Arleo Dordar). Sorry you got mauled.

41. Bellamy strangled Sgt. Lovejoy to death.

To be fair, Bellamy was going through a lot: getting harvested at Mount Weather can't be fun. And Sgt. Lovejoy (Eric Breker) would have killed Finn — and Maya (Eve Harlow) — if Finn hadn't killed him first.

42. Jasper, Monty, Harper, and Miller watched Dr. Tsing die from radiation poisoning.

"Rubicon" (Season 2, Episode 12)

OK, Dr. Tsing was a horrible person, and she let plenty of people die from radiation poisoning — you know, when she wasn't drilling bone marrow out of them. And Jasper, Monty (Christopher Larkin), Harper, and Miller (Jarod Joseph) had good reasons to hate her. Still, this was pretty brutal.

43. A missile killed more than 250 Grounders and Sky People, and Clarke could have stopped it.

Lexa could have stopped it, too, of course, but she's not our hero and we hold her to a different standard. The point is, Clarke chose the greater good again and that meant letting a whole lot of her people die horrible deaths. Abby's disgust with her daughter was extreme — but this was a hard choice to accept.

44. A Mount Weather sniper shot several Grounders.

The sniper, Whitman (Rob Hayter), did some serious damage before Clarke eventually put him down. What's important, however, is that Indra (Adina Porter) survived her injury.

45. The Delinquents violently fought back against the Mount Weather guards.

To be clear, this was a good thing! But it was also really intense. Seeing Jasper wield an axe with blood spraying the walls was a lot. This whole scene was a mess of stabbing and smashing and bludgeoning. Viva la resistance!

46. Jaha's group wandered into a minefield.

And that's why you should always mark your minefields! Jaha and Murphy survived, but they probably had a tough time moving past the image of body parts raining from the sky.

47. Mr. and Mrs. Peters were shot in cold blood for hiding Jasper and Maya.

Poor Mr. (Frank Ferrucci) and Mrs. Peters (Crystal Verge) — they were executed for trying to do the right thing. And poor Jasper and Maya, who had to watch these good samaritans murdered even after they'd turned themselves in. Traumatic!

48. Maya found her father dead.

It should probably be noted that Maya discovering the corpse of her father, Vincent (Ian Tracey), happened while countless Grounders and Mount Weather guards were killing each other outside. So, you know, quite a brutal episode overall!

49. Fox's corpse was dropped from a chute into a mining cart.

The indignity of an offscreen death is bad enough, but Fox (Genevieve Buechner) — who'd been around since the beginning — had her dead body dropped thoughtlessly into the mines after she'd been drilled of all her bone marrow. Not a great ending for the character.

50. Raven got shocked and then drilled into.

Because Raven hadn't suffered enough, apparently?

51. Clarke executed Dante.

Dante Wallace (Raymond J. Barry) ended up siding with his awful son Cage, but Clarke still didn't really have any reason to kill him. Once it was clear she couldn't use him as a bargaining chip with Cage, she probably should have just let him go. Instead she shot him in cold blood.

52. Clarke and Bellamy irradiated Mount Weather, killing about 350 people.

Again, this was an example of Clarke doing what she thought she had to do for the survival of her people. And it was probably the right choice! But yikes, was it awful. Let's not forget how many residents of Mount Weather were completely innocent. A lot of these victims were children.

53. Maya died in Jasper's arms.

Among the innocent: Maya, who spent the entire season doing whatever she could to help the Delinquents, repeatedly putting her own life at risk. And in the end, she died along with a bunch of other people who didn't deserve to, with poor Jasper left holding her corpse.

54. Lincoln cut off Cage's hand, then injected him with the red drug.

Given all the awful things Cage did, he kind of got off easy. He never had to adjust to life with one hand because shortly after Lincoln chopped that appendage off, he injected Cage with the same drug that Cage had forced on Lincoln. Cage, however, did not survive.

55. Raven and Miller killed three Ice Nation warriors.

Well, first Jasper antagonized the Ice Nation warriors — and then one of the warriors started to slit Jasper's throat. So, justified, but still unfortunate.

56. Emori stabbed Gideon in the neck.

This was only after Murphy had hit Gideon (John DeSantis) several times in the head, to no avail. Gideon seemed surprised by Emori's (Luisa D'Oliveira) quick throat slash — and viewers were certainly shocked by the impressive amount of blood that ensued.

57. Lexa kicked an Ice Nation representative out a window.

(This was way more awesome than brutal, but like, yeah, violence is bad.)

58. Gina was stabbed by an Ice Nation assassin.

We barely got a chance to know Gina (Leah Gibson) before she ended up on the wrong end of an assassin's knife. Still, she fought valiantly until the end! And she and Bellamy seemed to have a nice (albeit sadly truncated) relationship. RIP Gina.

59. Mount Weather exploded, killing everyone inside.

That would be the 35 Sky People from Farm Station who were being housed here. Honestly, given all the terrible things that have happened at Mount Weather, it's probably for the best that it's gone for good. But a lot of innocent people, again including children, died in the blast.

60. Lexa threw a spear through Queen Nia's heart.

"Watch the Thrones" (Season 3, Episode 4)

Well, that was unexpected. Although Queen Nia (Brenda Strong), leader of the Ice Nation, was set up to be a major adversary, Lexa spared Nia's son Roan (Zach McGowan) and instead threw her spear at Nia, killing her. Now let's all just breathe a sigh of relief that Lexa survived.
