Any 8 year old girl, who is a Buddhist, vegetarian, feminist, bookworm, saxophonist misfit and wanna-be-writer, is a source of wisdom and inspiration. Here's some examples of her independent thinking over the years.

During the many years of "The Simpsons" show, Lisa's been shown to read books varying from 'The Brothers Karamazov' to 'The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich: A History of Nazi Germany'. There's even a tumblr, The Lisa Simpson Book Club, dedicated to the huge list of books Lisa has read.

Lisa is a Buddhist

She's not only a Buddhist philosophically, she also meditates, which is pretty impressive for pretty much any age. I still can't.

She's a Vegetarian

Now that is amazing. Being just a kid and her parents being the ones making most of the choices, especially about food. Nonetheless, she has once again managed to think for herself and stand her ground, not caring one bit about the status quo.

Lisa is Beyond Looks & Vanity

She's not interested in having the right looks, she's interested in having the right books.

She is Insightful

Lisa cares about the world and wants change. She's like the moral compass of her family, only, that nobody ever listens to her. She sees all the wrongs that grown ups around her cease to.

Lisa is Politically Engaged

"...don't you think we ought to attack the roots of social problems, instead of jamming people into overcrowded prisons?"

Not only she's politically engaged, she has her own opinions about politics. I mean seriously. This right here is something most adults still don't get.

Or let's just say she's a LGBTQ activist, as she declares herself bisexual and polygamous.
