“Lets see if we can't…” As in- Let's see if we can't fix this. That seems like an easy thing to attempt. Now how about seeing if we can.

#1 for me is when people use “begs the question” when they mean “raises the question”

“For Crying Out Loud.” Used by obnoxious puritan dorks. Should be permanently replaced by the stronger “For Christ's Sake!”

When people use the world “literally” and the really mean “figuratively”.

“At this time.” That annoys the hell out of me. Why can't you just say “now.”

“perfect storm” used to describe everything from a football injury to economic collapse, yet rarely to describe an actual storm.

“Have a good one” — It is the most general, ambiguous, unflattering, and uncaring parting wish to offer someone - be they a friend or mere acquaintance. Shows a total lack of regard or attention to the other person. How 'bout just the general high-pitched “Woooooo!” that people do at bars when they raise their glasses to toast something, huh? That one drives me bonkers.  And when someone says “Pot calls the kettle black” - WTF? Who said anything about a kettle? Who even uses a kettle nowadays??? Please speak in 21st century jargon, please?

“Do the math” & “That's what I'm talkin' 'bout!” Spare me.

I hate letters that begin with “I'm writing to tell/inform/whatever you…” Unnecessary unless the rest of the letter is illegible.
