I don't see what's wrong with this… people are making money off of Bob Marley, Elvis Presley, John Lennon, Marilyn Monroe, Jim Morrison, Michael Jackson, John Belushi …. Need I go On?
Celebrity Buzz in a new ad for DirecTV, slightly older David Spade inserts himself back into 1995's Tommy Boy, where he proceeds to add new meaning to the famous 'fat guy in a little coat' scene. And while we all loved 'Forrest Gump', here's an example of that fun technology gone horribly wrong. RIP Chris Farley.

To everyone who finds this commercial distasteful: It's funny. Period. End of discussion. It's none of your business if David Spade and the Farley family agreed on this. Your opinions matter to nobody so keep them to yourselves. This was a decision made by people close to Chris Farley and, believe me, nobody ever cared what you, the public who have never known this man personally, might feel or what you might think inside your little egotistical whiny pea of a brain. Your potential reaction to the production of this commercial was not ever even considered for a second because it is trivial and insignificant since you are nobody to his friends and family. The commercial is targeted at those loyal fans who truly miss Farley and have an appreciation for his work and know that he definitely would not have had it any other way. Shut up and enjoy the commercial for what it is; a hilarious reminder of a truly great comedian we have lost and can only enjoy in little slices of memorabilia such as this. My first thoughts when I saw this commercial? “Wow, I really miss Chris Farley. He ALWAYS made me laugh.” Get on with your lives and stop making the rest of us miserable.
Get real. The man died twelve years ago. His family was in on making the spot. There's nothing offensive about it, just some people's overly sensitive sensibilities…
Goes to show ya' money beats friendship and respect. Maybe he needed the money?
Initially I was disgusted. But then I thought: What if Ginger Rogers was alive and Fred Astaire was dead and Ginger shilled something by dancing with Fred's image. Would anyone care? No I think people would like it. So what is it about the Farley-Spade spot exactly that's so wrong?

Never liked Chris Farley anyway, so this doesn't want to make me buy or not buy.
I thought it was pretty cruddy as well, but what people tend to forget is that these commercials are done in the characters from the movie. David Spade was not playing himself. I agree they should probably pick movies that don't include beloved dead celebrities or at least ones who haven't passed somewhat recently (like go more classic).
Sellout.
Far as I can tell, Chris Farley disgraced his own memory.
I thought this ad was jaw-droppingly inappropriate when I saw it earlier today.
Listen: I love Chris Farley. I'm not lying about that at all. But seriously guys, Tommy Boy's like the most unfunny movie ever.
Nothing wrong with this one; surprised nobody made a stink about the Poltergeist one with Heather O'Rourke a while back. This one is fine, that one was over the line.
quit being so sensitive….
