Hey there fellow back pain sufferer! The reason the ER doctor is probably being so rude is that he has SO many patients, if your primary doctor tells you to “deal with it” for a problem that is so bad you can’t walk it is absolutely time for a new primary doctor! Drop him. I herniated a disc in college playing soccer and now three years later I have degenerating disc disease. I’m 24 and already they’re talking about spinal fusion, scary stuff! The disc are so close they are pinching the nerve and My sciatica is incredibly painful, like you said very hard to walk or get up. I was referred to a pain management doctor who has helped me out a ton. They got MRI’s and X-rays to see what was causing the pain, and a script for physical therapy. They will give you referrals to the right type of doctors, likely a spine specialist or an orthopedic doctor, maybe even a neurologist if they think it’s nerve related. My pain management gave me pain medication to make it possible to get through the day as well as nerve blockers to calm down my pinched nerves. Also they gave me a prescription for a home tens machine like the one in number nine. I think that would be a great gateway for you to figuring out what’s wrong and how to make it feel better. Best of luck. Nobody will understand Chronic back pain unless they have it, so I’m sorry your doctors were such dicks. Time to move on, they showed an incredible lack of respect for you for a serious issue. Things like bulging disc aren’t going to “heal” back to normal so yes you’ll always have a sore back (if it’s a disc issue in the first place) but it should not be that painful. Sounds like a know it all doctor who doesn’t have the time to actually listen to their patients.
