20 Things Only A Community Manager Understands

Welcome to the world of Community Management and Social Media Overload. By: @misslujo and @lexiefo

    20. You rally the troops.

    19. There isn't a social network you haven't been on.

    18. You named your dog after the company you work for because you love it so much.

    17. You don't need an editor because you have at least 5 in your brain.

    16. You remember really weird details that make people uncomfortable.

    15. ...or they think you're magical.

    14. You've been called a "stalker" on more than one occasion.

    13. You often think in hashtags or say to yourself, "can I tweet that?"

    12. You might have even "hashtagged" something out loud.

    11. And you've definitely told others to "tweet that."

    10. You may have self-diagnosed yourself with ADD if you weren't diagnosed already.

    9. You either were your high school mascot or secretly dreamed about being it.

    8. You can and do empathize with trees… along with everything and everyone else.

    7. Your mom doesn't understand why your phone blows up 24/7 and your significant other gets suspicious about it at night.

    6. But it's always an auto DM. Which bums you out.

    5. You don't think it's creepy or crazy at all to have a conversation with an egg or a cartoon picture.

    4. You can spot a troll one mile away.

    3. You email in 140 characters or less.

    2. When people say, "so you just tweet for a living?" you roll your eyes on the inside (or outside).

    1. You end your day knowing it's never REALLY over.

Being a community manager puts you at the frontlines of your company and the people. No it's not a war, but a great community manager knows how to create a back and forth of dialogue and communication. ADD is not a prerequisite but doing a lot at once without totally losing your cool (although, sometimes it's okay) is.
