1. Palm Beach

You’ll have to be a dog lover to enjoy Palm Beach, as it’s one of the only pooch-friendly stretches of beach on the GC. The views of Surfers Paradise from here are also worth mentioning.

2. Bilinga

Bilinga is most convenient if you’re arriving by plane, as it’s directly across from the Gold Coast Airport. The best news? The iconic sound of crashing waves muffles most of the noise pollution.

3. Couran Cove

Only accessible by boat, Couran Cove is a private resort with its beach backing on to the Broadwater - the Gold Coast’s boat highway. If you can’t cough up the big bucks, you can jump on a ferry to Couran Cove for the day and take a jet-ski tour or go for a kayak.

4. Currumbin Inlet

Currumbin Inlet is perfect for kids or paddle boarding without a wave in sight, and calm crystal clear waters lapping onto pristine white sand.

5. Tallebudgera Creek

Tallebudgera is just over the hill from local favourite Burleigh Heads, and has a delicious little creek that's perfect for paddling. The white sand banks of the creek look onto the beautiful greenery of the Burleigh Head National Park across the way, and there's an underrated patrolled surf beach just around the bend.

6. Tipplers

Tipplers is a community located on the north end of South Stradbroke Island and is only accessible by boat. Hiring one from The Spit or Jacob’s Creek will get you there in less than half an hour where you can dock for the night and enjoy a beer at the pub.

Over the hill of Coolangatta, and over the Queensland border into New South Wales, you’ll find the beautiful Rainbow Bay. The bay is overlooked by hill-top resorts and hotels and has a vista-envy walking track and family holiday feel.

Located just over the border into New South Wales, with the feel of a small country town, Fingal has a sprawling, exposed surf beach. The cute little roads around Fingal are lined with old and new beach shacks, perfect for relaxing around.

While it’s less of a beach and more of a resort, Sanctuary Cove is as exclusive as it gets on the Gold Coast. A popular wedding venue, the Cove has a golf course, village, marina, and its own private beach.

Coolangatta is becoming quite a hub of activity with great restaurants and shops springing up, and beautiful hotels lining the main road. However, the beach here is still less abrasively crowded than Surfers Paradise, and if you like a good vibe, and great places to eat and shop - Coolangatta is the place to be.
