The Blue Lagoon In Iceland Is Freaking Amazing

The 8th wonder of the world.

The Blue Lagoon is a geothermal spa in Iceland.

It was accidentally formed in 1976 when run-off from the Svartsengi power plant formed a pool.

After that, people began bathe in the rare water and apply the silica mud to their skin.

Some people with psoriasis noticed a great improvement in their condition.

In the past several years, those who oversee Blue Lagoon have begun to develop different spa services and products.

In addition to the lagoon, there's a sauna, a steam bath carved out of a lava cave, and a massaging waterfall.

By the time it reaches the lagoon, the mineral laden, electric blue water is between 98 and 102 degrees fahrenheit.

Blue Lagoon’s facilities, including the Blue Lagoon spa and Blue Lagoon Clinic, were designed by Sigríður Sigþórsdóttir from Basalt architects. They were designed to protect the environment and respect the geological history.

The Blue Lagoon is one of the best examples of when nature meets man-made.

And it's only 45 minutes from Reykjavik.

    Yeah, this place actually exists.
