A Bunch Of NBA Players Follow Porn Stars And Booty Models On Twitter

Guys, you know we can all see who you follow, right?

Despite the intimate and immediate access Twitter provides, a lot of famous people still don’t really understand how public it is. A direct message can become a tweet in a second, and everything else you do on the service is painfully, obviously public, whether it’s stupid tweets or the list of who you follow.

Marcus Jordan had problems with this when he accidentally tweeted a DM meant for a porn star, and then, after denying it was sincere, turned out to be following her. It also turns out that, when it comes to some of the more famous Twitters out there, NBA players have interesting following habits. These two combined stories made me wonder: how many NBA players actually follow porn stars and racy models on Twitter?

First step: I followed ~350 NBA players, mostly current, a few former. Second step: I used the Internet to figure out the porn stars and models with particularly large web followings. (The Internet is good for that.)

For example: The above porn star, Sara Jay, is followed by Cleveland Cavs star Kyrie Irving, Toronto Raptors forward Amir Johnson (you’ll see his name a lot in this story), and former Bobcats player Sherron Collins.

Veatrice is a popular one. Damien Wilkins — the juxtaposition of his bio here is great — Marcus Camby, Vince Carter, and John Wall are big names. As is Jalen Rose, though for a different reason: Rose is a media personality now.

And hey there, Amir Johnson! (2)

Amir Johnson (4)

Former player Chucky Brown showed up as the sole follower of a number of accounts we didn’t end up using, so he might be a connoisseur. Also, this is the inaugural Starbury appearance.

Steve Francis the rapper making an appearance here. Amir Johnson (5)

Tracy Rosentreter has a solid following among NBA players, including the biggest fish so far, Kevin Durant. Amir Johnson (6)

Amir Johnson (7)

In addition to mainstays Chucky Brown and Starbury, this is Anthony Morrow, Austin Daye, Patrick Patterson, and Sean May’s first appearances on our list.

Amir Johnson (8)

Joe Smith’s retired, but he was in the league not too long ago.

Amir Johnson (11)

What’s up, KD. Amir Johnson (12)

Shawn Marion!

Amir Johnson (11) and some of the other usual suspects.

Amir Johnson (12). John Wall’s showing up pretty frequently, too. I’ll have a complete scorecard at the bottom.

Fun fact: prior to being drafted, Jeremy Tyler actually played in Israel and Japan rather than going to college.

Vince Carter also a common sight.

J.R. Giddens and Avery Bradley! Two newcomers. Apparently Giddens is playing in Greece now.

Everyone follows Yaris Sanchez, it seems, including four members of the OKC Thunder (James Harden, Kevin Durant, Eric Maynor, Daequan Cook) and Amir Johnson (13).

Amir Johnson (14). It’s good to see that Kyrie Irving doesn’t follow Miss Hawaii — they had a bit of a problematic relationship when Irving was still at Duke. As in, she reportedly threatened to stab him.

You could make an argument that Sasha Grey is beginning to be known less for her adult-film experiences and more for her acting, singing, and being a personality, but regardless. Hey Danny Granger.

When I saw the Nets and Knicks play a preaseason game earlier this year, there was more than one “MVP” chant for Renaldo Balkman. So.

Amir Johnson! (15) And KD and Vince Carter.
