21 Harsh Truths You Learn Growing Up

    As told by Kevin McCallister.

    1. Becoming an adult and leaving your childhood years in the past isn't easy.

    2. When that happens, life instantly becomes full of tough decisions.

    3. Sometimes you're faced with difficult choices that you'd rather not confront.

    4. And things don't always go the way you'd like them to.

    5. Unfortunately, you'll also experience your fair share of close calls.

    6. Growing up is learning about being completely and utterly honest with yourself.

    7. And wanting what's genuinely best for others around you.

    8. Dealing with annoying jerks doesn't get any easier.

    9. Neither does tolerating people you can't stand.

    10. Figure out what you want out of life and put those desires out into the universe.

    11. Articulate yourself when you're unhappy — don't be too shy to speak your mind.

    12. Because when you do, you'll find that you might actually get what you want.

    13. Luxury or nothing.

    14. Despite some of the negative things that come with growing up, you also gain important wisdom.

    15. And learn how to set your priorities straight.

    16. Don't be surprised when life hands you a curveball from time to time.

    17. Everything costs money. Lots and lots of money.

    18. It's always helpful to figure out the best way to tune out unnecessary drama.

    19. Trust your gut feeling and instincts when it comes to other people you encounter.

    20. You have the freedom to make your own decisions, but with that freedom comes a heck of responsibility.

    21. Despite all of the adversity and hardship, you also learn to shrug off the insignificant issues and let things go more often.

After all, it's the only way to survive.
