Yes it will work, :D. It doesn't matter about save times. You would have to re-save it to get the format to work, wouldn't you? I'd say that is a good excuse, however, most high school teachers don't even know what file properties are, so there is no point.

any teacher with sense would consider this an incomplete assignment. it shouldn't be the teacher's fault if the document won't open. you should have the responsibility of making sure the file will open on any computer. that will prepare you for real life more than the paper itself.
