    "Hidden Cash" On Purdue Campus

An anonymous donor has joined the "hidden cash" bandwagon after last year's "HiddenCash" campaign around San Francisco-- and has started a scavenger hunt for students to find envelopes with cash-- anything from $10 to $100!

The premise is simple. Envelopes will be dropped off around campus at random times, for which our donor, Twitter handler @PurdueCash, will send a clue for followers to find, which has already started! What is the goal of this social experiment?

The goal of this project is to spread kindness and add excitement to Purdue's campus.

If you find an envelope, the money is yours to keep! However, I highly encourage you to use a portion of it to bless someone else.

On March 2nd, the first clue was posted online. Within 5 minutes, Purdue Computer Information Technology senior and Alpha Phi Omega member Logan Dan found the envelope at the top of South Tower, where a broken piano has been left for some time. "I was in Stewart and the tweet came in and I knew the money was in the Union so I half-ran to the South Tower and looked in the piano. I feel like I was lucky to get there first," says Dan. "[...] Union/Stewart area is so high traffic that I thought someone else was probably closer and in the area". Dan had been following the account and signed up for the mobile notifications after he noticed a friend had retweeted one of @PurdueCash's early tweets.

Found some money in the South Tower thanks to @PurdueCash! I'll be donating half to @CPCharity because they rock.

Dan has donated half of his money to decided to Child's Play, a charity that donates to children in hospitals and domestic-violence shelters, a charity he really admires. "I know as a kid the major way that I'd pass time would be playing video games. And for kids in hospitals or domestic violence shelters, their family might not be financially able to provide them with toys and video games, or they're stuck in the hospital while they undergo treatment and be unable to play on their home systems. So that's where Child's Play comes in and donates video games and toys for kids to play with while they're in the hospital or shelter." In fact, it's brought him quite a bit of fame with two articles from The Washington Post and Vocativ describing his first "win".

What a refreshing taste of kindness in such gloomy winter weather! If we're lucky, our anonymous donor will strike again!

Campus is feeling a little gloomy. It seems like Purdue could use some excitement today. What do you guys think?

Boilermakers-- Stay tuned for the next clue! In the mean time, let's follow Logan's lead-- if you would like to learn more about Child's Play Charity, locate your nearest hospital in the CPC network.
