There's A Newly Found Dinosaur Called "Pinocchio Rex"

Because of course there is.

Scientists have found a new dinosaur they've nicknamed "Pinocchio rex". They think it looked a bit like this.

It's a cousin of Tyrannosaurus rex but has a longer snout, hence the name. It also had a row of horns along its nose that probably made it look slightly ridiculous.

The carnivore lived in Asia during the late Cretaceous period, between 100 and 66 million years ago – just before the dinosaurs were wiped out. Its remains were unearthed in southern China.

It would have rubbed shoulders with its cousin, though it's thought the two dinosaurs weren't in direct competition as they would have hunted different prey. Pinocchio rex might even have been "faster and stealthier" than any other tyrannosaur, according to Dr Steve Brusatte of the University of Edinburgh.

The dinosaur's official name is Qianzhousaurus sinensis, but you have to admit its nickname is much catchier.
