Premiere: Shamir Gets A Puppet Makeover In "Call It Off" Video

The singer gets the felt-faced doppelgänger he's dreamed of since childhood.

This is Shamir. The 20-year-old musician behind last year's infectious disco-rap anthem "On The Regular."

While his debut album Ratchet isn’t out until May, the Las Vegas native recently released the bubbling breakup jam "Call It Off" as his second single.

The sugary track is accompanied by an even sweeter, puppet-filled video, premiering on BuzzFeed Music in partnership with the YouTube Music Awards.

“I loved the idea because, the puppets. Like, are you serious?" The singer enthused in a behind-the-scenes video. "Everyone grew up on that. They make everyone so happy!”

Directed by Philip Hodges, the music video follows a bored Shamir as he transforms into a puppet and throws a desert rave for his felt-covered friends.
