Where Have All The Curly Girls Gone?

There's a straight-haired epidemic in Hollywood and I don't approve.

1. The OG - Sarah Jessica Parker

Alas, the photo on the right is the "curly" we have to settle for in 2013. Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

2. Donna Jo Let Me Down

All of the Tanner girls had some curl in their mane but DJ's was the best. Long, thick and so 80s, she rocked the curls.

...until she didn't. The curls were phased out and by the final season we almost forgot her beautiful beginning. Luckily, the internet will never let us forget.

3. I'm Lookin' at You, Beesly

Sighhhh. The naturally curly Jenna Fischer showed off many curly hairstyles as Pam Beesly on The Office. Any curly girl could relate to her hair transformation (we've all had those years where we just didn't know what to do with it like Pam in Season 1).

When Fischer steps out these days, her 'do is straight with just a bit of a wave. Almost like a nod to her earlier years as one of us. But she is no longer one of us.

4. Another One Bites the Dust

Elizabeth Berkley's Jessie Spano was a strong feminist who was often the moral compass of the Saved by the Bell gang. She wore her curly mane with the confidence of a girl who knows she's smarter than her friends.

After her Bayside High years the curls disappeared and Berkley became just another straight-haired actress. She cracked under pressure...just like with the caffeine pills.

5. Amazing Grace? Uh, Not So Much

I honestly forgot Debra's hair used to be this curly. On Smash it was curly-esque but now it's just straight. 'Cuz why stay true to your natural self? That's just silly I guess.

6. So Deep in My Daydreams

It's just a sweet sweet fantasy that we'll see these luscious locks again.

I'm still in mourning over this loss. Keri was the beacon of hope. The lone bright spot in a TV filled with poker-straight leading ladies. Even when she chopped it off it worked (no matter what The WB said). When I saw the promos for The Americans the Doritos literally fell out of my mouth. The light at the end of the tunnel had been snuffed out. It still brings tears to my eyes.
