The One Thing In "Mary Poppins" You Probably Didn't Notice As A Kid

The movie isn't just about a flying nanny who sings "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious."

As a child, you probably thought Mary Poppins was the most magical movie in the world.

Mary Poppins flew her way in with a bag of tricks, and took care of little hooligans Jane and Michael Banks.

But there was one important character you probably didn't pay attention to: Winifred Banks.

Remember the colorful sash she wore over her blue dress? It says "Votes for Women."

You probably even sang "Sister Suffragette" as a child, but never fully understood the greatness of the lyrics.

She sang "Political equality and equal rights with men!" in a children's movie. RELEASED 50 YEARS AGO.

So it turns out Mrs. Banks was actually a feminist, and our little childhood selves never noticed it before.

    Well done, Disney.
