The 18 Worst Things For Left-Handed People
I can no longer be silent on the daily oppression of the left-handed community! Hear our pain, world!
1. Spiral Notebooks
Hurts the side of your hand. The worst are the 5-subject with the extra big rings.
2. Writing in a 3-ring binder
You have to do that thing where you fit your hand between the top two, then eventually have to pick it up and fit it in between the bottom two.
3. Only 1 gross lefty glove in gym class
The handsweat of a thousand lefties before you.
4. Only 2 pairs of the green lefty scissors in class, 3 lefty kids.
Scrambling through the scissors to find the ones with the green rubber handles, only to see they’re already all gone.
5. Ballpoint pens don’t work as well because you’re pushing, not pulling the ball
The ink will never flow as well for lefties, so our pens stop up more.
8. iPad Kindle app - left side is back page
This is really annoying - if you prefer to hold it in your left hand, you have to move your hand all the way to the other side to tap. On a real Kindle, page forward is on both sides, thankfully.
9. Driver’s cup holder is for the right hand
So you have to hold your cup with your right hand.
11. Dying sooner, so becoming a zombie sooner
Studies have shown lefties die up to 9 years sooner than righties. At least we’ll get to eat their brains.
12. These desks
College lecture hall desks with postage-stamp sizes desks. You have to twist your back and hold up your arm to use.
13. Measuring cups show you the stupid metric side
The cups/ounces side is for the righties. You have to do that thing where you twist your hole arm around to be able to read ounces.
15. Made for righties
Apparently you can get modified lefty controllers, but maybe you should just go outside.
16. Cord on the credit card machine pen never long enough
Annoying. Annoying. I’m annoyed.
18. For which someone invented THESE
The saddest thing is that all the lefties in the BuzzFeed office now want these. The indignity.

sfkghbsdfkjgbdksfjgh 5 days agoThat’s why smart lefties learn to be righties from an early age. The only major disadvantage is it is ridiculously impossible to tell your right from left now. i.e. “go on for ten miles, then turn left” 30 minutes later, “did I say left? I meant right.”

Spiral notebooks, just flip them over. You start at the back of the notebook, but it helps my hand feel better. I don’t even try to write in 3-ring binders. I did not know that my lefty-ness sabotaged ballpoint pens. Everything else, though, it’s a matter of adapting. Or not knowing they were even supposed to be left or right handed, like the PS3 controller. PS: Never get a left-handed ruler. It is the most confusing thing in the world.

1 & 2 - Same problem for right handed people when using the other side of the page
3 - since when did gym class ever have ANY gloves???
4 - made no difference since none of them could cut dirt anyway
5 - ok, you win that one
6 - happens no matter which hand you write with, see 17
7 - sit on the end and stop whining or don’t sit so close
8 - it’s an apple product, what do you expect?
9 - move to a country that drives on the other side of the road
10 - get a left-handed keyboard or move your hands just a little farther and use your left hand instead!
11 - huh? must be because lefties don’t have enough common sense to properly deal with the rest of the list
12 - trust me, those desks royally suck no matter which hand you write with!
13 - you hold the cup with your off hand and pour with your dominant one, which means only lefties can see the correct measurements, the righties are the ones that have the trouble with these
14 - rotate 180 degrees, hold with right hand, crank with left hand, problem solved
15 - go into the game options and change it if you don’t like it
16 - if it’s not long enough for lefties, it’s not long enough for righties either
17 - happens to righties just as often, righties just don’t whine about it as much
18 - lame no matter which hand it is for -

douglastewlj 2 weeks agoI make my check marks down to my body and up to the outside. Looks backward to Right-handers. My worst thing is using a clip board, I need to flip the paper around and clip the other end which often has no margin so some of the writing is under the clip.

matth66 2 weeks agoNumber 5 is a genuine insight for me… I always thought ballpoint pens just sucked, I didn’t realize my left-handedness was the culprit for crappy pens. I mean, it’s not like anything is going to change, ballpoint pens are always going to just crap out when I’m in the middle of writing a word, but at least now I know why.

Exactly. In 1, when you turn to write on the backside, righties have the same problem. In 6 and 17, I always get ink/lead on my hands when I draw or write, especially if the ink is still wet and there is a lot of lead on the paper. That’s just problems we all experience.

Have you ever come across a right handed ladle? Always with the shitty Ithaca College catering! Dude, put the spigot/crease thingy on both sides, it feels awkward as hell either holding it with my right hand or trying to make the flow of dressing happen in a way that’s unnatural to it’s design… F*** you guys.
