Nice Guys On Okcupid Are The Worst
A new Tumblr called Nice Guys of OKCupid is doing the much needed work of pointing out the fallacy of the “nice guy”.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned from both life and reality tv (equally, of course), it’s that whenever someone proclaims some quality about themselves, it’s the opposite. “I’m real,” “I don’t play games,” etc… Of all those, the most likely to be a totally untrue is anyone who laments their status as a “nice guy.”
The “nice guy” myth is a thick brew that mixes the potent elements men’s rights advocates, anger at being in the “friend zone”, a penchant for fedoras, and posting on Reddit. A new Tumblr called Nice Guys of OKCupid is cataloging these menaces.
Notice on the same profile where they profess their “niceness” they also reveal their total douchiness? Nice.

If you call yourself nice but use degrading and sexist terms and get irrational and upset if BOO HOO a girl doesn’t like you automatically because you feel like you’re entitled to the love of all women, you’re probably not actually that nice, and the reason you’re not getting any girls is because they can usually recognize that. 2. If being nice is your best trait, you’re not going to appeal to many girls, especially when there are men who are nice and also have lots of other fun traits. Now go off, young male butterflies, reconsider and revise your behavior, and maybe you’ll even get a girl to like you!

The “friend zone” is, in large part, made up of two kinds of people. There are plenty of guys who think that being nice (a.k.a. basic human decency) alone entitles them to sex. At the same time, there are women who flirt and lead guys on in order to use them (even if it’s just for complements), knowing full well that they have no interest in that guy. Both of these things are equally shitty. Let’s not pretend that every guy who’s ever been put in the friend zone got there solely of his own accord.

First, I’m pretty sure about half the men commenting on this are just “nice guys” who have enough sense to recognize that being blatantly misogynistic is stupid. Second, the guy in the fedora did nothing wrong except say he was nice and that he was “friend zoned.” Admittedly, not the most emotionally mature way to present oneself, but not a crime. Let’s call a spade a spade. Most of these guys are probably total jerks. What really separates them from the rest of society is that they’re bad at hiding it. This article, for example, is just a socially acceptable way of making yourself feel better by trashing random strangers you know almost nothing about. your mom 5 months agoOoooohhhh nOOOOOOOooo. A girl friend-zoned you while you were being “nice” to her just to get into her pants! Yeah, false niceness because you have a jones for someone doesn’t = real interest. Women can tell who treats them as an equal with respect for their input and who patronizes them because they wanna screw. Either learn to be upfront about what you actually want or only befriend women that you, you know, actually want to be JUST FRIENDS WITH. It’s not that damned hard.

Neptune's Rings 5 months agoI’ve been “friend zoned” a few times when I was younger, but eventually I grew up (emotionally) and got over the fact that the girls I knew may have wanted different things than what I was prepared to offer them. Sounds like these “nice guys” have yet to get to that point. No one likes a whiner.
