emilyc14 a year agoI heard about Kony through Invisible Children, but that was when they came to my high school a few years ago. I met Jacob, the former LRA child solider in the now-famous Kony 2012 film. I know Invisible Children isn’t perfect, but I’m glad people are learning about Kony - some people don’t even know Uganda exists. It’s different to hear about Kony through the perspective of someone who was abducted and forced to watch the LRA slit his brother’s throat. As hipster-ish as it may sound, Invisible Children has been around for many years, whether you like it or not. Many people have spent time and effort dealing with the aftermath of Joseph Kony, even in organizations besides Invisible Children. So yes, some people have heard of Kony before this viral video. Not everyone who has heard of Kony is an Invisible Children advocate, either. Don’t brand everyone a hipster, even if there are a few posers out there.
