The 13 Most Impressive Performances From The 2014 NFL Scouting Combine

The NFL's scouting combine wrapped up Tuesday. Check out the stars in next year's rookie class.

1. Bishop Sankey, Washington RB

Sankey finished the combine looking like the top running back in his class. The former Husky finished in the top five at his position with 26 reps on the bench press, a 10-foot-6-inch broad jump, a 4-second short shuttle, and a 4.49-second time in the 40-yard dash.

No wonder he racked up 1,870 yards rushing and 21 total touchdowns for the Huskies.

2. Dri Archer, Kent State University RB

Dri Archer ran one of the fastest 40-yard dash times in history when he clocked in at 4.26. He came close to Chris Johnson's record-setting 4.24 seconds in 2008.

Archer left the Golden Flashes with 1,429 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns.

3. Mike Evans, Texas A&M WR

Evans clocked a 40 at 4.53 seconds, and was just three-hundredths of a second slower than the 4.5-second time posted by Oregon's De'Anthony Thomas, who was widely viewed by scouts as one of the fastest players of this year's draft class.

4. Eric Ebron, North Carolina TE

Ebron is clearly the top tight end in the draft. Measuring at 6 feet 4 inches and 250 pounds, he still clocked a 4.6-second 40 time.

The former Tar Heel has said he patterns his game after San Francisco 49ers TE Vernon Davis. NFL draft analyst Mike Mayock said Ebron is a “more complete football player” than Davis, and may be the “most talented tight end” in years.

5. Taylor Lewan, Michigan OT

His connection to an ugly off-field incident hurt his stock, but his phenomenal combine performance could vault him back into the top 10. He had the fastest 40 time at his position (4.87) while displaying impressive athleticism with a 9-foot-9-inch broad jump and a 7.39 three-cone drill.

6. Greg Robinson, Auburn OT

The 332-pound tackle ran a 4.92-second 40-yard dash, and put up 225 pounds on the bench press 32 times. The St. Louis Rams already have said they're interested in Robinson and may secure him with the second overall pick.

7. Darqueze Dennard, Michigan State DB

Many thought Dennard would run a similar time to Cleveland Browns corner Joe Haden, which was 4.57 seconds, but Dennard impressed scouts with a 4.51.

8. Justin Gilbert, Oklahoma State DB

Gilbert is battling to be the first cornerback chosen in May's draft. The former Cowboy had seven interceptions last season, and at 6 feet tall and 202 pounds, he's projected to be drafted as the No. 1 cornerback.

Gilbert clocked the fastest 40-yard dash among defensive backs at 4.35 seconds.

9. Blake Bortles, Central Florida QB

With quarterbacks Johnny Manziel, Teddy Bridgewater, and Derek Carr choosing not to throw at the combine, Bortles took advantage of his opportunity and impressed his audience. Draft analysts have him projected as the No. 1 pick.

10. Johnny Manziel, Texas A&M QB

Manziel clocked a 4.68. Word on the street is that his workout impressed Raiders coaches.

11. Jadeveon Clowney, South Carolina DE

NFL Network

The former South Carolina Gamecock clocked an insane 40 time of 4.53 seconds. The 6-foot-5-inch, 260-plus-pound defensive end finished faster than 36 wide receivers and running backs.

12. Telvin Smith, Florida State University LB

In 2013, Smith led FSU’s championship team with 90 tackles. Despite being criticized about his weight, he surprised scouts with a 4.52-second 40 time.

13. Richard Eisen, NFL Network anchor

NFL Network

Eisen ran his personal best 40 time for his annual run. The football analyst was clocked at 5.98 seconds.
