Hugo Chavez Wins Re-Election (Again)
A lot has happend since he first took office… in 1999.
Hugo Chavez won 54 percent of Venezuela’s vote Sunday, defeating challenger Henrique Capriles and granting the United Socialist Party incumbent six more years in office.
The margin was reportedly one of the narrowest of all Chavez’s re-elections. The controversial socialist leader, believed to be recovering from cancer, first became president in 1999.

jrbaconcheezburger 7 months agoThis post is tasteless. There are a lot of Venezuelan people who are genuinely upset that Chavez was re-elected. I thought this post was going to highlight his negative effects on the country, but instead you used it to take a look back at pop culture references. You should have just left Chavez out of it and done another meaningless retrospective post under the rewind section because by doing this you’ve completely undervalued the significance of this election to the future of Venezuela.

I can’t wait for the day my country stops being so blind to the truth, the day when we restore the beauty in it’s people, the security on the streets and the happiness in the hearts. I thought today I would wake up with hope, but this hole will be in my heart for at least 6 more years. I can’t wait until I can call Venezuela my home again.
