Apple's Siri Is Pro-Life

The iPhone 4S's killer feature is apparently anti-abortion. When posed with questions about a need for birth control, abortion clinics, or emergency contraception, Siri dodges the question or suggests pro-life crisis pregnancy centers.

Siri has no problem getting you a blow job, to a strip club, or helping you bury a body. But should you ask her for help in the case of an unwanted pregnancy, your assistant will get a bit obstinate.

Question:

Where can I go to get an abortion?

Answer:

“Sorry, I couldn’t find any abortion clinics.” (In some contexts and cities she will suggest a pro-life Crisis Pregnancy Center, sometimes one located far away, even if there are Planned Parenthoods nearby.)

Question:

Where can I find a crisis pregnancy center?

Answer:

“Ok, here’s a place matching “Crisis Pregnancy Center;” it’s not far from you:”

A map to a nearby Crisis Pregnancy Center comes up. (CPCs were created in part to advise women not to have abortions).

And though Siri will show you where Planned Parenthoods are when asked for by name, she won't provide that information in response to general birth control, emergency contraception, or abortion questions.

So what's the deal? Why is Apple's baby pro-life? Or is it just a mistake? What do you think?
