The fortunes of these cable dynasties must rival the Waltons of Walmart fame. Most Americans pay over $200 a month for the triple-pay and profits are high. My friend in the UK pays 35 pounds a month or about $55 US dollars for the same service. People in France pay less than that. These businesses are monopolies and have little incentive to improve service and add additional channels. My apartment complex has an exclusive deal with Cox Cable and I cannot use AT&T cable service, even though it is able in my neighborhood. Why is there no competition in America for cable service?
