In a sad twist of irony, Cory Monteith’s final role will see him portray a drug-addled man on the run; last month, the 31-year-old actor died of drug toxicity involving a mix of heroin and alcohol.
The trailer for the Canadian cop thriller McCanick, released last night by the Toronto International Film Festival, features a long chase for the troubled young Simon (played by Monteith), which takes on an extra somber significance in the wake of his all-too-young death. The former Glee star has little screen time in the preview, acting as an elusive mystery and point of speculation.
His girlfriend, Lea Michele, gave a tearful tribute to her late co-star at the Teen Choice Awards on Sunday. Glee will air an episode dedicated to his passing early this fall.
