30 Things Everyone Who Went To University Of Sussex Will Remember

You won't remember Coca-Cola or Nestle products from your university days, that's for sure.

    1. Hearing the rumour that the campus was supposed to look like a cat from the air.

    2. These sandwich-thieving bastards waking you up every morning.

    3. There was someone with this haircut in every seminar.

    4. You spent a lot of your time riding the 25 bus between campus and Brighton.

    5. DON'T TRY AND PAY WITH A NOTE THOUGH.

    6. You could always take the train to Falmer Station instead...

    7. You never actually bought The Argus, but the billboards made great souvenirs from a night out.

    8. Everyone had at least one drunken group photo in front of this concrete sign.

    9. The campus was full of 1960s buildings... that were actually kind of cool.

    10. In fact, the campus was just lovely. Especially in the summer.

    11. ...And the autumn.

    12. ...And the spring.

    13. And even in the winter.

    14. And when things got a bit too much, you were three minutes walk from some amazing countryside.

    15. There were also plenty of raves to go to in the woods behind Lewes Court.

    16. Otherwise, you could always rely on East Slope for a good time.

    17. As long as that good time didn't involve Coca-Cola. This stuff was contraband.

    18. As nice as campus was, the real fun was in Brighton.

    19. But not at Oceana.

    20. For a small city Brighton has a ridiculously high number of excellent pubs.

    21. But you sometimes wondered how one city could be so windy.

    22. You knew at least one person who lived up Elm Grove, and you dreaded the hike up the hill to visit them.

    23. On campus it seemed like there'd be a protest every week.

    24. And even when there wasn't, you still couldn't walk through Library Square without being given a flyer by one group or another.

    25. The student union had meetings which hundreds of people actually attended.

    26. You probably went to the Palace Pier once in your first year, before quickly realising it was a tourist trap.

    27. The West Pier was the Best Pier, the perfect backdrop for beach barbecues at sunset.

    28. Despite technically living in 'Brighton and Hove' you never really went to Hove much while you were at uni...

    29. ...but now you've left half of the people you know who stayed in the city live there.

    30. You've probably moved out of Brighton. But every time you come back to visit, it makes you smile.
