2. The film is reflexive

Not many films can pull this off. Reflexive, in this case, means the world in the film knows the myth of Peter Pan. They know him to be a fictional character. Some film people might always recognize this as a form of post-modernism. This is one of the many reasons this film is so damn magical.

3. Visual Storytelling At Its Finest

Spielberg is famous for his complex camera moves, and high key lighting. Dean Cudney (the DP for Hook) and Spielberg really push the concept of visual storytelling in this film. They say all they can with just the camera movement. From push ins, to reveals, Hook brings you on an emotional roller coaster.

Rufio is the Bobba Fett of Hook. He's mysterious, feared, and respected. He's clearly seen some shit go down, and obviously done some amazing things to earn the right to be the Pan. Yet, despite is tough exterior, all he ever wanted was to have a mom and a dad. All he ever wanted...was to be loved. Banarang Rufio.
