Life seemed full of opportunities for the newly freedmen of America
ExSlaves were ready to work and live side-by-side in peace with the White people
Racism began to became unbearable. The Ku Klux Klan raped, killed, and tortured ex slaves in the dark of night. And the Freedmen said,
And Jim Crow Laws didn't help make freedmen feel part of society
And neither did the White League
To escape racism, Freedmen left the South and headed West
Thousands of freedmen began a long migration
They acquired the name, "Exodusters," because this journey was reflected the biblical journey of Exodus
Exodusters settled mainly in Kansas
But also other states such as Colorado and Oklahoma
But this was not to say that Exodusters had easy travels!
