LGBT Community Rallies Around Washington Redskins Owner Daniel Snyder

Support for unpopular stance comes from unlikely, yet fabulous, source.

Protesters gathered today outside team headquarters.

WASHINGTON, DC -- As pressure builds in the media for the Washington Redskins to change their team name of 77 years (and drop the Native American imagery from their logo) opposition has sprouted up in an unlikely place. Support for embattled trademark owner Daniel Snyder's decision to keep the team the way it is has been growing in the LGBT community, which mobilized a rally today outside team headquarters.

"I don't see what the big deal is," said Tony Kapernick, a 33 year-old waiter from Mount Vernon in Baltimore, MD. "Headdresses are pretty."

"I like feathers," agreed Kyle Palmdale, who works as a pet groomer and volunteers at an assisted living facility in his spare time. "They're sensual."

Showing solidarity with Snyder's stubborn resistance to national criticism, protesters held signs and chanted "Teamwork makes this dream work," for some reason.

"Next thing you know they'll outlaw costume parties!" cried one angry protester who when told he was probably missing the point threw glitter in an innocent bystander's face.

"It doesn't seem fair to the fans," said softball coach, Anne Brown. "Just because none of my ancestors was a Viking princess, does that mean I can't dress up like one?"
